ROSETTES

ROSETTES
Ingredients
  • 2 eggs, beaten slightly
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. sifted flour
  • 1 c. milk (or a bit more)
Instructions
  1. Beat eggs. Add sugar, salt, milk and the flour in this order. Stir until there are no bubbles in this mixture.
  2. Heat cooking oil or shortening to 400 degrees. Drop rosette iron into batter until 2/3 is covered. Immerse in hot grease. Fry until rosette leaves iron and is golden and brown in color. Remove rosette to absorbent paper to dry. Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
  3. Wipe excess grease from iron each time with clean towel. If rosettes do not come off iron, fry a little longer. If batter drops off, your grease may be too hot. If not crisp, reduce the temperature of the grease. (Makes 30.)
  4. N.B. Rosette irons (3 patterns) can be purchased at hardware store or Sears.
