BLONDE BROWNIES
Ingredients
- 1 c. flour
- ½ tsp. baking powder
- ⅛ tsp. soda
- ½ tsp. salt
- ⅓ c. butter or vegetable shortening
- 1 c. brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- ½ c. nuts
- ½ c. chocolate chips
Instructions
- Sift together the flour, baking powder, soda, and salt. Melt ⅓ cup butter. (If using vegetable shortening, add 1 tablespoon of water.) Add 1 cup packed brown sugar. Add 1 egg, slightly beaten and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Add flour mixture and ½ cup nuts. Pour into greased (8 or 9 inch) square pan. Put ½ cup chocolate chips on top. Bake at 350 degrees for 20- 25 minutes.
