SALTED NUT CHEWS
Ingredients
CRUST:
- 1-1/2 c. flour
- ⅔ c. brown sugar
- ½ tsp. baking powder
- 1-1/2 tsp. salt
- ¼ tsp. soda
- ½ c. oleo
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 3 c. miniature marshmallows
- 2 egg yolks
TOPPING:
- ⅔ c. corn syrup
- ¼ c. oleo
- 2 tsp. vanilla
- 12 oz. pkg. peanut butter chips
- 2 c. Rice Krispies
- 2 c. salted Virginia peanuts
Instructions
- Heat oven to 350 degrees. Combine all crust ingredients except the marshmallows. Press into a 9x13 inch pan, ungreased. Bake 12-15 minutes or until light golden brown. Immediately sprinkle with the marshmallows and return to oven for 1-2 minutes until the marshmallows puff. Cool while preparing topping.
- Heat the first four topping ingredients until melted and smooth. Remove from heat and add cereal and nuts. Immediately spoon and press over marshmallows. Chill and cut.
