KENTUCKY CAKE
Ingredients
- 1-1/2 c. flour
- 3 Tbsp. cocoa
- ½ tsp. salt
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 Tbsp. vinegar
- 6 Tbsp. Wesson oil
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 c. cold water
ICING:
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 sq. chocolate
- 3 tsp. Crisco
- ⅓ c. milk
- ½ tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Instructions
- Mix flour, cocoa, salt, sugar, and soda in an 8 or 9 inch square pan. Then make three holes in mixture. Into one put 1 tablespoon vinegar; into another 6 tablespoons of Wesson oil and into the other 1 teaspoon vanilla. Pour over all 1 cup cold water. Stir well with a fork. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.
- ICING:
- Bring ingredients except vanilla to a boil for one minute. Beat until ready to spread. Add 1 teaspoon vanilla and spread on cake.
