Butterscotch Icebox Cookies (Phyllis Johnson’s recipe)

Ingredients
  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 cups flour
  • ½ tsp soda
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1 cup chopped nuts
Instructions
  1. Mix together butter and brown sugar
  2. Add eggs
  3. Sift together flour, soda, salt, and cream of tartar
  4. Add to butter mixture and mix well.
  5. Add nuts
  6. Mix all together and make into 2 long rolls, wrapped in wax paper.
  7. Refrigerate overnight.
  8. Bake on greased cookie sheets 12 minutes at 350 degrees until light brown.
