ROUND STEAK CASSEROLE
Serves: Serves 4-5
 
Ingredients
  • 2 lbs. round steak, cut into 1" cubes
  • 2 tablespoons of butter
  • onions, thinly sliced
  • 4-1/2 oz. jar of mushrooms
  • potatoes, sliced
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • ¾ c. half & half
  • ¾ c. sour cream
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • ¼ tsp. pepper
  • 2 c. shredded cheese
  • bread crumbs or cracker crumbs
Instructions
  1. Season with salt and pepper. Brown in 2 tablespoons of butter and onions, thinly sliced, until meat is brown and onions tender. Drain 4-1/2 oz. jar of mushrooms, reserving the liquid. Add water to the liquid to make 1 cup. Stir into meat and onions. Heat to boiling. Reduce heat and cover. Simmer 15 minutes.
  2. Pour into a 9x13 inch pan. Arrange sliced potatoes over meat. Mix soup, half & half, sour cream, salt and pepper. Pour over potatoes. Sprinkle with 2 cups shredded cheese. Bake 1 hour at 350 degrees, uncovered. Sprinkle with bread or cracker crumbs and bake 20 minutes longer.
