SURPRISE BAKED CUSTARD
- 2 lg. eggs
- ½ c. sugar
- ¼ tsp. salt
- 2 c. milk
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- Rounded spoon brown sugar
- Nutmeg
- Beat slightly to mix eggs, sugar, and salt. Scald 2 cups milk until scum appears. Add 1 teaspoon of vanilla. Pour into egg mixture. Into custard cups, put a rounded spoon of brown sugar. Pack down. Add custard mixture very carefully on top of sugar. Then sprinkle with nutmeg. Place cups in a pan containing ½ inch water. Bake in oven at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes.
