KENTUCKY CAKE
 
Ingredients
  • 1-1/2 c. flour
  • 3 Tbsp. cocoa
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 Tbsp. vinegar
  • 6 Tbsp. Wesson oil
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 c. cold water
ICING:
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 sq. chocolate
  • 3 tsp. Crisco
  • ⅓ c. milk
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
Instructions
  1. Mix flour, cocoa, salt, sugar, and soda in an 8 or 9 inch square pan. Then make three holes in mixture. Into one put 1 tablespoon vinegar; into another 6 tablespoons of Wesson oil and into the other 1 teaspoon vanilla. Pour over all 1 cup cold water. Stir well with a fork. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.

  3. Bring ingredients except vanilla to a boil for one minute. Beat until ready to spread. Add 1 teaspoon vanilla and spread on cake.
