JINNY'S SWEDISH RYE BREAD
- 2 c. warm water
- 1-1/2 Tbsp. dry yeast
- ⅓ c. molasses
- ⅓ c. shortening
- 2 tsp. salt
- ¼ c. white sugar
- ¼ c. brown sugar
- 1-1/2 c. rye flour
- 5 c. white flour
- Dissolve yeast in warm water in large bowl. Add all remaining ingredients except 2 cups of white flour. Mix at low speed for 3 minutes. Add remaining flour, ½ cup at a time. Knead it in the mixer for about 5 minutes. Put in greased bowl. Cover and let rise in a warm place for 1-1/2 to 2 hours. Can punch down and let rise again, or make into 3 loaves. Let loaves rise until double. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes.
Batch is completely done in a Kitchen-Aid mixer. Jinny Larson
