BLONDE BROWNIES
 
Ingredients
  • 1 c. flour
  • ½ tsp. baking powder
  • ⅛ tsp. soda
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • ⅓ c. butter or vegetable shortening
  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • ½ c. nuts
  • ½ c. chocolate chips
Instructions
  1. Sift together the flour, baking powder, soda, and salt. Melt ⅓ cup butter. (If using vegetable shortening, add 1 tablespoon of water.) Add 1 cup packed brown sugar. Add 1 egg, slightly beaten and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Add flour mixture and ½ cup nuts. Pour into greased (8 or 9 inch) square pan. Put ½ cup chocolate chips on top. Bake at 350 degrees for 20- 25 minutes.
